At the beginning of 2020, MJ Hudson formed a partnership with Headway East London as part of its Hudson’s Heroes initiative, pledging to raise £10,000 for the charity.
Headway East London is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Working across 13 London boroughs, they offer specialist support and services for over 200 survivors, families, friends, and carers in the local area each week. Headway’s services are designed to suit each individual’s circumstances, needs and aspirations, by providing therapies, advocacy, family support and community support work alongside their day service: a community venue where members can make the most of their abilities and interests.
The Hudson’s Heroes met with Headway in December of 2019, but the team could not know what the coming year would bring. With the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, it became clear that Headway needed MJ Hudson’s support more than ever, and a decision was made to extend this partnership for a second year to ensure that the firm could deliver on its £10,000 promise. With in-person events prohibited for much of the partnership, the Hudson’s Heroes faced their most challenging fundraising campaign yet.
Today, MJ Hudson is proud to announce that, at the end of our two-year partnership, the company has raised over £12,000 for Headway.
We are immensely proud of our staff, who banded together (virtually, of course) over these two difficult years to help support a truly wonderful cause.
Here are some highlights from our campaign:
- The purchase of two wonderful pieces of art from Headway’s Submit To Love Studios, created by Headway’s day service members;
- Supporting Headway with a pledge as part of The Big Give;
- MJ Hudson staff running a marathon for Headway;
- Competing with our clients in the inaugural International Asset Management League;
- Flying the flag in our Euro 2020 sweepstake auction;
- Taking part in a 40-person game of Family Fortunes;
- Meeting over Zoom for regular lockdown quizzes, and;
- Cooking up a storm in the MJ Hudson kitchens during our bake off.

We have loved working with the Hudson’s Heroes over the past two years, and we’ve really appreciated the extended time with them - this was a thoughtful gesture after our first year of fundraising was affected by the pandemic. Despite the extra hurdles, Hudson’s Heroes hit their goal for Headway East London, which has contributed to the resilience of the charity. We have been able to redesign our service to be a hybrid of remote, online and in-person support for hundreds of local brain injury survivors and their families. Thank you, Hudson’s Heroes!
