MJ Hudson announces today that it has appointed Charlene Cowen as the new Director of People and Wellbeing.

Charlene was the first employee of MJ Hudson, joining Matthew Hudson as an Associate (solicitor) to launch MJ Hudson in 2010.

As Director, Charlene heads up the Group’s People and Wellbeing function.  Charlene’s main focus is leading and implementing HR related policies, procedures and strategies as well as dealing with general day-to day HR requirements, recruitment (including developing graduate training programmes and strategies), talent development, mentoring and coaching.  Charlene implemented the Group’s wellbeing initiative, the Recharge Plan, in 2014, which she continues to develop and maintain, focussing on both the mental and physical wellbeing of the MJ Hudson team.

The Recharge Plan includes activities such as yoga, bootcamp, massage, mindfulness, book club, running club, aRRt club (mindful colouring-in), ‘Time Out Lunches’, as well as some more unusual initiatives such as ‘Email Switch-Off’ (where the team are actively encouraged to switch off their email whilst on holiday), ‘Time Out to Count’ (where fee-earners can allocate time spent on the Recharge Plan towards their annual billable targets) and ‘Toby goes Walkies’ (taking the resident soft toy for walks around the City),  all in an attempt to get people to engage with the plan to improve health, reduce stress and literally ‘recharge’.

Matthew Hudson commenting on the new appointment said:

“This is testament to years of hard work, diligence and being an all-round excellent team player. Charlene continues to do a super job looking after our most important asset – our team.”
