In 2018, MJ Hudson formed a partnership with the Prison Advice and Care Trust (PACT), committing to raise £5,000 in support of the charity. Today, MJ Hudson is proud to announce that after one year, it has raised over twice this amount after the generous decision by the company to match the fundraising total, doubling it.
The Hudson’s Heroes team met with PACT in early 2018 to discuss fundraising opportunities and were delighted to discover not only that PACT were a perfect fit for the company, but that there were a wealth of volunteering opportunities the team at MJ Hudson could throw themselves into!
This year, members of the firm volunteered both in the courts (Westminster Magistrates Court and the Old Bailey), and in befriending roles, providing support to defendants and their families. Our team also volunteered to give the HMP Pentonville Visitor Centre a makeover, as well as donating toys for visiting children to play with. Our thanks goes to each and every team member that has volunteered this year – we have been so impressed with everyone’s enthusiasm.
Whilst the volunteer team focused on providing direct aid to the charity, the fundraising team were hard at work organising events, activities and sales throughout the year! Highlights include:
- A company raffle that raised over £1,100, made possible by some generous prize donations by local businesses;
- MJ Hudson lawyer Kemi Greene running the Edinburgh Marathon in support of PACT;
- GAA legend Bernard Brogan donating some signed jerseys to auction at our event in February;
- A World Cup sweepstake that ultimately devolved into a furious bidding war that raised over £800;
- MJ Hudson’s first in-house pub quiz, which raised over £300.
But we’re not done yet! In 2019, alongside continued fundraising efforts, MJ Hudson’s Andrew Mills and Emily Shannon will be running the London Marathon for PACT. To help us raise the £1,200 we need by June 2019, please consider donating to our JustGiving page, here.
“It’s amazing what can be achieved when you have such a dedicated team who have been incredibly generous with their time and skills, so on behalf of all of us here, at PACT, thank you so much!"
“You really are our heroes, MJ Hudson!”
Andy Keen-Downs, CEO of PACT
