In 2016 MJ Hudson proudly chose The Children’s Trust as its Charity of The Year. This was following a recommendation from one of our colleagues, Rosie Kavanagh, whose family friend uses the facilities. She was so impressed with the help and support that The Children's Trust offered she knew they were deserving of our help.

The Hudson's Heroes team met with Jane Shufflebotham, Fundraising Executive, whose dedication, support and endless range of fundraising ideas were second to none. Jane explained that part of the service that they provide is their ‘Family Support Team’ who support the child and their family with both the emotional and practical challenges they can face following a brain injury. Our target, £10,000, would pay for the entire salary of a member of the Family Support Team for six months.

Over the year MJ Hudson took part in a ping pong event, a Euro2016 sweepstake and numerous bake sales. We also held a Family Fun Day where the entire firm got together with their families and, with some very generous gifting from local restaurants, venues and members of staff, the Hudson's Heroes team arranged a raffle, raising over £1000!

The most successful event of the year, however, was the Partner Challenge. We gave the Partners of the firm a set time period to contact their clients and raise as much money as possible with the idea that there was a forfeit for the Partner who raised the least. Being a competitive bunch, the sponsorship came flooding in thick and fast and by the end of the day we had reached our target! The forfeit for one unlucky Partner was to sing a Christmas karaoke song at the firm party that evening, but, due to the excellent work all round, the Hudson's Heroes team decided that every Partner should take part! Well done to them all, not only for their support and grovelling abilities but also for gifting us with their best version of the 1984 Band Aid classic ‘Do they know it’s Christmas’– certainly one to remember!

In total for the year MJ Hudson raised £10,895 for The Children’s Trust and are very proud that we were able to make a difference to such a worthwhile cause.
