What we do
Independent investment advice
Leverage the experience and skill of senior, independent professionals, acting as trusted investment advisers to your team.
Given the ever-increasing complexity of modern investment and pension fund management, as well as the obvious conflicts of interest that many of the service providers are subject to, the requirement for independent investment advisers has never been higher. The MJ Hudson Investment Advisory team provides senior, independent, and highly experienced individuals to work with the asset owner as a trusted investment adviser. We aim to offer unconflicted and unconstrained investment advice.
Through the provision of highly experienced individuals we aim to assist institutional asset owners in managing their investments and achieving their investment goals.
Better investment knowledge should enable the asset owner to make better long term decisions.
Investment and governance training
Take part in 1:1 and group training for investors on a wide range of investment issues, demystifying investment jargon and complexity.
Investment issues have become increasingly complex and difficult to understand. Investment jargon can prevent committee members from truly understanding the investment issues concerned, hampering their ability to make appropriate decisions.
We provide highly experienced advisers, capable of bringing clarity to the complex world of investment. Training can be delivered on specific asset classes, derivatives or issues of liability hedging etc. Training can be to groups or on a 1:1 basis.
More knowledgeable committee members should engender better decisions. At a minimum, it will increase the level of discussion and reduce the probability of poor outcomes and inappropriate investments.
Investment governance and reporting
Work with experienced industry veterans to help navigate complex issues in governance, regulatory and compliance structures.
Given the multifarious relationships between trustees, scheme members and scheme sponsors, governance structures can be complex and are prone to stress. The changing regulatory environment only adds to these issues.
Our team helps review investment governance structures within the context of current and future regulation, and ensures that they are fit for purpose. Our independent advisers can act as chair of the trustee board or governance committee or in an advisory capacity. They will review documentation and evaluate current structures with a view to recommend improvements.
Good investment governance helps the right people make good decisions; bad investment governance can impede activity, and cause a serious loss of value for a fund, with high levels of stress for all involved.
Trustee solutions
Welcome pension scheme and investment veterans onto your trustee board as independent trustees.
Corporate pension schemes frequently wish to supplement the knowledge of their trustee boards in the complex area of investments.
We supply highly experienced individuals with a career history within the investment or pension fund industry and experience of working at board level to fulfil this role. Our independent trustees frequently serve as chair of the investment sub-committee to the pension scheme and are capable of leading the thinking on investment issues to the benefit of the individual client.
Each pension scheme has its own set of governance documents which set out the relationship between the trustees and the sponsor. Our trustees will work within these parameters to build a strong relationship between all parties involved in the delivery of the pension obligations. This involves working with scheme trustees and the scheme sponsor to improve investment returns whilst controlling investment risk to a level acceptable to all parties.
Better investment decisions lead to a greater probability of the pension scheme covering its liabilities into the future and hence increase the likelihood of delivering on pension promises and lowering the ultimate cost to the sponsor.
